Truro & Penwith College

Truro & Penwith College is largely respected as being one of the best tertiary colleges in the country, combining sixth form and further education for young people in Cornwall. Since 2008, over £30m has been spent on re-developing its sites, providing outstanding resources for the students.

The college has also been awarded ‘Beacon Status’ in recognition of excellence and innovation in the ‘Learning & Skills’ sector, with further accolades going to its current principal David Walrond, for promoting and recognising diversity in Cornish education.

For engineering, design & technology facilities, high-quality, durable workshops are an essential part of providing a great education to students. Having worked with many education providers, bott has an excellent knowledge of which products are best suited to these environments, and how to ensure that colleges and universities get the optimum solutions for their budgets.

Through reseller Cromwell Tools, bott supplied and installed a range of workplace storage equipment for the engineering department at the Truro Campus. Bespoke workbenches, cupboards and drawer cabinets were provided from the heavy-duty, modular bott cubio range.

High-quality, durable

When investing in new tools and equipment, we always aim to secure the highest quality products, which helps to ensure our student experience is outstanding. We are proud that any operational surplus is ploughed right back into the facilities and equipment that learners use on a day-to-day basis. When investing in equipment, price is important, but never the defining factor in a capital decision. Bott products are fundamentally high quality and well designed. Simple features such as adjustable legs on workbenches can be an important factor when teaching learners of differing ages and stature. The quality of bott products is always high and the finish very durable, it’s aspects like this make a real difference to the end user. We could buy imported products for very slight less, however replacing items regularly is not only environmentally wasteful, but simply a false economy. We are proud to buy British, and in the case of bott, just a couple of miles down the road in beautiful Cornwall, what’s not to like!
