ENGIE

Bott provides a modern update for ENGIE workshop.

ENGIE is a leading energy and services company focused on three key activities in the UK: production and supply of energy, facilities management and regeneration. The company enables its customers to embrace a lower carbon, more efficient and increasingly digital world.

First Hydro Company* operates Ffestiniog and Dinorwig Power Stations in North Wales. The two facilities offer critical back-up electricity during periods of excessive demand on the national grid system.

ENGIE approached Bott through re-seller GaragePride and after an initial meeting between the teams at ENGIE’s pumped storage plants in north-west Wales, the facilities’ needs were scoped and specified.

As Bott is an active supporter of renewable energy usage at their manufacturing plant in Cornwall, Bott were an excellent choice of partner to provide a modern re-fit of a mechanical workshop space inside one of the power stations.

Although the site provided a stunning backdrop, the Dinorwig and Ffestiniog Power Stations – right on the boundary of the Snowdonia National Park – created their own challenges when setting up the installation. Dinorwig Power Station, where the workshop is located, is housed within the Elidir Fawr Mountain. David Holder, Project Sales Manager, said: “The space itself was fairly simple to plan for although it is the first time I’ve measured up under a mountain! I was able to redesign the existing workshop layout of the equipment to better suit the space available.”

The team at ENGIE were looking to achieve a hard-wearing workshop set-up that would uphold a safe working environment for employees. Morgan Foster, Plant Maintenance Engineer, said: “The workshop site is intended for use by our Mechanical Maintenance Craftsmen, Apprentices and Shift Technicians, who carry out daily maintenance of plant and equipment within the power station complex. Bott was chosen for the re-fit on account of the reputation of their products and previous experience of Bott units in the workshop, we knew that they could create a high-quality set-up that satisfied our requirements.”

Bott’s professional storage solution, bott cubio, was the obvious choice. “I specified bott cubio from day one as the environment demanded the durability of our heavy-duty range,” said David. The bott cubio range features workbenchescabinets and cupboards – both static and mobile – which create a very versatile, modular workspace.

Ken Evans, Managing Director at GaragePride said, “We were initially approached by ENGIE to help with the refurbishment of their maintenance workshop and, during the initial telephone consultation, we were happy to stand behind the company’s preference for Bott products because of their reputation for quality and durability. Here at GaragePride we were pleased to work closely with both teams on the provision of the workshop layouts and the submission of costs.”
