Reporting into our Production Manager, the Manufacturing Shift Manager will help to lead and manage a team of approximately 20 people on the evening shift and be supported by two Supervisors. The role would suit someone who is experienced in leading and managing a multi-functional production shift and have had exposure to an environment containing sheet metal, fabrication, powder coating and assembly operations.
Key Responsibilities
With the support of the wider Bude Operations Team, the Manufacturing Shift Manager will be expected to;
• Promote a culture of safety, performance and high standards.
• Leading the evening shift team to achieve quality, output and financial goals. • Achieve output targets, as well as effectively managing workload against capacity.
• Maximise efficiency of the section by ensuring all planned machines are run, activities completed and lost time events are minimised.
• The ability to challenge established practice to improve overall performance. • Taking an active role in driving process improvement projects.
• Evaluate and monitor performance to develop the team.
• Relationship building and close liaison with other shifts and departments.
• Ensuring behaviours meet the requirement of all Company policies and procedures.
• Cost control over the shift, including overtime, consumables and scrap.
• Mentor and coach including 1:1s and employee dialogues.
• To provide industry leading service to our customer base.
• To aid with flexibility and resilience, you may be required to complete additional tasks which reasonably fall within the job role of Manufacturing Shift Manager. Personal Profile & Essential Skills:
• Previous experience within a manufacturing environment ideally containing sheet metal, fabrication, powder coating and assembly operations (3 years minimum).
• Previous experience of running a team is essential (particularly coaching, training and development). We are also keen to hear from people with experience with process and desire to progress in this area.
• Knowledge and experience of MRP systems, ideally SAP.
• The ability to follow procedure and schedules whilst also possessing a desire to continually improve.
• Be an excellent communicator with the ability to lead and influence all levels. • Ability to develop others through training and mentoring.
• Experience and knowledge of lean systems and best practice.
• Strong organisational and planning abilities.
• Be highly organised and be able to adapt to changing priorities.
• Personable and able to engage with colleagues, customers and suppliers at all levels.
• An ability to build and manage strong relationships both internally and externally.
• Self-motivated and positive attitude.
• Attention to detail.
• An ability to manage multiple projects with demanding workloads and lead times.
• To be passionate about delivering an exceptional customer service experience.
• Ability to confidently use MS Office.
• Full UK driving licence as occasional requirement to travel to customer or other bott UK sites.
Hours - 4.00pm to midnight - 37 hours per week – Monday to Friday
Salary: £42,000.00-£48,000.00 per year
