Key Responsibilities:

Bott Limited is a market leader both nationally and internationally, which naturally results in busy financial ledgers. 
    
The Financial Controller is responsible for the Bott Limited ledgers and the accounting transactions that form the basis of the subsequent financial accounts.
    
Managing a small team, the Financial Controller will control the quality of financial data outturns, raising the monthly management accounts, annual budgets and quarterly forecasts. Liaising closely with the wider Bott Group, the Financial Controller will also provide regular KPI reporting including order intake, revenue and cash. The submission of statutory returns also plays a key part of this role and these range from VAT to ONS submissions. Requirements to liaise with Bott Limited colleagues across three separate sites will utilise strong communication skills and will enable to the Financial Controller to attend to all other required day to day financial tasking.

  • Responsible for producing management accounts from the company SAP system
  • Management of a small team of three ledger staff
  • Oversight of the full month end process and journal postings
  • Management of the SAP financial calendar for UK
  • Responsible for the management and processing of prepayments & accruals
  • Control of the full asset accounting cycle; including creation, disposal, retirement and monthly depreciation calculations
  • Responsible for reconciling accounts in the balance sheet including, but not limited to, all bank accounts (sterling as well as foreign currencies), PAYE, wage control, credit card accounts, employee loan accounts, petty cash accounts, childcare vouchers
  • Providing key KPI data for monthly dashboards and management meetings
  • Working closely with cost centre managers to complete ‘actual vs budget’ reviews each month; including reforecasts where required
  • Management of the quarterly stock revaluation process and year end rate calculations       
  • Process fuel scale charges and maintain diesel logs
  • Submission of quarterly VAT returns
  • Submission of monthly VAT data to an external agent for French VAT return requirements
  • Calculate monthly export sales values for Group reporting purposes
  • Maintain currency exchange rates in the SAP system
  • Perform monthly foreign currency revaluations
  • Control of key steel supplier accounts including the processing of complicated invoices
  • Authority for investigating and subsequently unblocking query supplier documents
  • Clear GRIR (goods received, invoice received) account on a regular basis
  • Manage the compilation of all documents required by the company’s external auditors in connection with the annual audit
  • Provide key support throughout the annual budget process
  • Managing monthly, quarterly and annual data submissions required by The Office for National Statistics
  • Any other duties required in order to assist the work in the finance department

Personal Profile & Essential Skills:

  • Formally certified accountancy qualification i.e. CIMA / ACCA
  • Previous experience of managing the full month end cycle including creation of management accounts
  • Sound experience of managing an accounts team
  • Previous in depth use of an ERP system
  • Accurate attention to detail
  • Previous experience of data manipulation and analysis
  • Proactive and capable of taking initiative
  • Previous experience of processing statutory submissions i.e. VAT
  • Solid financial instincts
  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written
  • Leading and influencing others
  • Microsoft Office with intermediate to advanced skills on Excel
  • Strong team player

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of SAP
  • Previous experience of cost accounting
  • Experience from within a manufacturing / production environment
  • Desire to develop and grow their own role
