Driven to win

Our long-term partnership with Multimatic Motorsports began with a high-quality workshop fit out in 2016, whilst campaigning the Ford GT in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) for Ford. Since that time, we have designed, developed and installed an extensive workplace storage solution for their new facility in the UK and our kit has accompanied the team on many race events.

Our latest collaboration helps bring to life the exciting world of motorsports; in the ‘Driven to Win: Racing in America’ exhibition, at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation. Presented by General Motors, the recently opened exhibition celebrates over 100 years of engineering excellence and innovation; with many interactive zones, including full-motion racing simulators and exclusive film footage.

To help recreate the life-like racing environment in the ‘Sports Car Performance Center’ zone, a selection of bott cabinets have been used to feature alongside the 2016 Le Mans GTE class winner, the #68 Ford GT race car as well as a split Ford GT, showcasing how closely the production car matches the race car.

Innovation, engineering & design

Melissa Foster, Media & Film Relations Manager, at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation said: “In this zone, we follow the design, development, and ultimately the win of the Ford GT at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2016. It was a big win, because it happened 50 years after Ford won for the first time in 1966. The space speaks to innovation, engineering and design, which makes the bott pieces a perfect addition. Plus, they’re the same brand that Multimatic Motorsports and Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Team used in their race programs.”

As well as being able to see real data from the historic race day in June 2016, visitors can also follow the evolution of the car’s design through models and prototypes, or race against each other virtually. Melissa added: “The bott pieces look amazing. They work really well and give a good authentic experience to the development of the Ford GT.”
