Bott commits to long-term partnership with Scania

Bott is continuing to renew its UK and European transport and distribution fleet with Scania. The most recent deliveries have seen two new generation S 410 4×2 tractor units enter service, with another of the same specification currently on order. In addition, Bott operates four Scania R-series tractor units, comprising a mix of 410, 420 and 440 horsepower models.

To ensure all of the company’s six Scania trucks are maintained to the highest standard throughout their in-service life, all new vehicle purchases will have a Scania seven year repair and maintenance contract managed primarily by Scania Exeter.

Quality and service

Chris Sweeney, Logistics Manager at Bott said:

For us, quality and service are key; that’s why we’ve gone with Scania, both for the vehicles themselves and the repair and maintenance contracts that support them. We operate an intensive transport service, running outbound with deliveries of our workshop equipment and returning with raw materials and various other regular backloads. Each of our trucks is heavily utilised and we depend upon their availability – hence our decision to minimise the risk of disruption by opting for premium trucks and service.

In terms of the backup we receive, we have run Scania vehicles for the past three years and we know we can depend on our local dealerships in Exeter and Bridgwater for excellent service and communications. And should we need assistance further afield, a Scania dealer is never far away.

The driver and customer experiences are also extremely important to us. Many of our drivers spend all week living in the cab, and we take their welfare very seriously. Our drivers are impressed with Scania’s R- and S-series models, and quality vehicles like these definitely help with driver retention. We encourage our drivers to take pride in their trucks, and allow them to show them at local events if they so wish. This all plays a part in our success, for when our drivers are our ambassadors. A committed, professional driver arriving at a customer’s premises in a smart truck certainly makes a difference and we know this is something our clients genuinely appreciate.

Each truck in the Bott Limited fleet covers 80,000 to 100,000 kilometres a year on average, hauling the firm’s 14-strong Schmitz Cargobull curtainsider trailer fleet.  The company uses its trailers to promote its products; some are liveried with images of its workplace storage equipment, while others carry images of the vehicle conversions the company produces.  Between them, the fleet make more than 150 to 200 deliveries a week.
