Bott win the Business Excellence Award

On the 5th October 2006, bott Ltd’s Group Managing Director Clive Woodward, Simon Fry, Financial Controller and Jimmy Finn, Production Director attended the Devon and Cornwall Business Excellence Awards 2006 at the Imperial Hotel,Torquay.

The event was hosted by BBC Radio 4 Sports presenter Gary Richardson and attended by 200 South West Business Delegates. Hot on the heels of the recognition received at the Cornwall Business Awards, bott Ltd took yet another accolade in winning the business Excellence Award sponsored by KPMG.

Bott, based in Bude, was founded in 1973 and employs some 300 people throughout the UK. Its evolution from product manufacturer to full service and solution provider has marked a successful transition to a ‘one-stop shop’ for those seeking workplace and storage solutions.

With sights firmly set on enhanced profitability and a £20million turnover goal for bott during 2006, Clive Woodward decided to expand the company’s vehicle conversion capabilities in Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire. Turnover in this area of the business has now grown from £5 million in 2003 to over £11 million last year. Overall the company increased its turnover by 40% in 2005.

The company has also strengthened its bottom line through implementing better buying strategies, lean manufacturing processes and tight cost control.

A comprehensive training and development plan, coupled with a quarterly profit-based bonus directly rewards overall productivity improvement and promotes teamwork. Clive believes that the commitment of his team to embrace change has been of fundamental importance in underpinning the company’s success.

The KPMG award recognises the company’s excellence achieved in all operational areas and the contribution it is making to the Devon, Cornwall and indeed National economy. Foremost in the consideration
