Design Technology teachers from Launceston and Holsworthy Colleges designed and produced a custom plant holder, 'PlantBott', a project specially planned for the visit.
"We came up with the idea of the PlantBott holder so that the teachers could design and produce it over the course of a day" said Jimmy Finn, Production Director at bott.
"We used it to demonstrate the exact process we go through, from design to the finished article, so that they could adapt it and take it back for pupils at their school"
"It was great to get 'hands-on' and see something from start to finish" said Andy Blackburn from Launceston College. "I have a much better understanding of 'lean manufacturing' and 'make-to-order', and how a company like bott works to innovate and constantly improve their processes to remain competitive".
"The commitment of everyone at bott was fabulous" said Susan Fraser from Holsworthy College. "We had a very busy and intensive day with a widerange of senior managers and staff, and a real insight into every aspect of the business, including careers."

"This is exactly what we need to take back into school and promote all the exciting opportunities in manufacturing and engineering to our pupils".
"We are very proud of what we achieve at bott" said Managing Director Clive Woodward. "If we can help raise the profile of manufacturing and engineering and build up enthusiasm in local schools for what we do, our business could benefit from good apprentices in the future".
Helen Field from Cornwall Education Business Partnership who organised the visit said "The visit was funded by a Royal Academy of Engineering scheme call STEPS, which aims to raise awareness of young people and their teachers of the opportunities for careers in engineering and technology."
