bott opens new factory extension
In addition to the training and conference suite, the new block will also accommodate the company’s sales and marketing function, accounts department and key senior personnel. bott's CEO, Clive Woodward, commented: “This expansion is part of the continued growth of our factory on this site, and is a clear demonstration of our commitment to the area, and to UK manufacturing. As well as additional staff accommodation, it provides a fantastic showcase for our products and will enable us to train our staff, customers and dealers in the most modern environment.”
The factory expansion is also part of bott’s commitment to lean production; previously the company was split over two sites in the town. bott product is displayed in the new contemporary ground floor showroom and is used in Workplace Equipment Solutions for Factories, Workshops and Service Vehicles. The new training suite has already played host to a European dealer conference with more than 40 delegates and will be used to host a large number of training courses. Clive continued: “We have long been known for robust, high quality products and increasingly are being used as a consultancy for new workplace installations using our bespoke design and build service. This new conference and training facility will help us show how our products can be used and adapted through our R+D department.” The office block was designed to fit in with the existing factory units on the site, while remaining sympathetic to the local environment in one of North Cornwall’s most popular tourist destinations. The building has also been designed to minimise energy use, with high levels of insulation, a combined heating and cooling system and as much natural lighting as possible through the central glass atrium. The construction was carried out by building company J E Stacey from nearby Holsworthy. Planning permission has also been granted for a 15kw wind turbine in the grounds of the factory to offset the Office Block’s electricity consumption. The office extension follows other significant investments designed to improve product quality, customer service and reduce the company’s environmental impact. This includes a new energy-efficient paint line allowing the company to react more quickly to bespoke customer orders and a £700k investment in a new sheet metal folding centre. bott's products are used in wide range of industries including manufacturing, automotive, education, heritage and aerospace.
